Profile
of tourism as economical sector has exibited fundamental changes in
terms of structure and planning in the last years. Until the end of
the decade 1980, the classical tourism was related to visits to destination
with the planning addressed to hotels and programs for coast leisure.
The modern tourism is not only this program, but also one of experience
or experimentation.

Geotourism
and mineral tourism has existed since a long time ago in Europe and
USA, defining a touristic product of a great value and without restriction
of durability like artificial ones. Geotourism is the offer of information
about formation processes and environment spent in places of landscaping
visit. In Brazil we have several points showing this, like Corcovado
(RJ), Iguaçu Falls (PR) and Chapada Diamantina (BA), among others. There
are already geotouristic statistics in some regions and they grow up
with exponential speed. Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte, Bahia and
Paraná States present studies in process, as putting panels in
already know touristic places for tourism routes and treks. As an example
of the extent of the geotouristic information, at Iguaçu Falls
(PR) panel, set by the state government (MINEROPAR) in portuguese, english
and spanish, shows a visit and reading average of one million people-year.

Brazil confers priviliges to the tourism in coast, mainly the northeast region for developing tourism infrastructure. Concerning the natural beauties and history, there are other regions which show an interesting whole of characteristics that can be offered as touristic products, besides the traditional ones; even more the demand for it is increasing, nowadays. The history of the settlement connected to the mining in many cities or natural known settings can be offered as cultural tourism, ecotourim or, in some case, shopping tourism. |
